YOur Info

Optics featuring our Solar Failsafe will automatically switch to battery power whenever there is not enough light available to power the reticle.

In manual mode, the optic will always use battery power. The solar cell on top of our optics is actually a photodiode array (basically a light sensor). It controls both the auto brightness adjustment and provides solar power to the product when in auto mode.

Sometimes our customers try to test if battery power is working by covering the panel
to see if the reticle will still be there. The problem with that test is that you trick the optic into thinking that you are in very low light conditions. The optic then lowers the reticle
intensity down to night vision compatible mode, which means that the user is unlikely
to see the reticle in normal lighting conditions.

The best way to test if the battery is taking over is to leave the panel uncovered,
but go into a very dark room and see if you still get a reticle. You will know the room
is dark enough if you do not get a reticle when no battery is in the optic.

A canted objective lens is part of the design of reflex/reflective type optical sights.

Note that the coating on the objective lens is there so that the lens can act as a mirror
for the specific wavelength of light produced by the LED located at the opposite end
of the optic.

In order to create a proper reflection of the reticle/dot, the objective lens must be perpendicular to the LED. You may see some objective lenses that are tilted left to right, top to bottom and others that are in between. This is due to the different locations of the LEDs in different models.

Holosun optics are subjected to 1000g shock testing, water immersion, high/low temperature, drop testing, and more to ensure you receive a rugged optic.
